Learning a new language can be challenging. However, when it is made fun and tailored to the needs of children and teenagers, it becomes an exciting adventure.

The new mobile application “Learning Greek!”, developed by the research center CARDET in collaboration with Frederick University and INNOVADE, under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth of Cyprus, aims to make the Greek language accessible and enjoyable for everyone!

A Friendly Experience for Everyone

From the very first moment, the message “Feel at Home, Start with Greek!” warmly welcomes every user. The app features:

  • Cheerful graphics and characters that create a familiar and inviting environment.

  • Age group options (6–12 and 13–18 years) so that content is tailored to each student’s needs.

  • Gamification elements like collecting “Star Coins,” leaderboards, and avatars to encourage progress.

  • Interactive games and exercises that help users connect sounds, words, and images.

  • Learning levels from A1 to B2, allowing for gradual skill development.

A Tool for Social Inclusion

The project also has a deeper social goal. It was created to support students who are Third-Country Nationals (TCNs) attending the Cypriot education system, acting as a bridge for integration and empowerment. It is funded by the Asylum, Migration, and Integration Fund and the Republic of Cyprus, highlighting the country’s commitment to smooth social inclusion.

A CARDET representative stated:

Learning Greek! is more than just a digital lesson. It is a powerful tool that boosts students’ confidence in a new school and social environment. It provides educators with a complementary, modern, and easy-to-use classroom resource, while also bringing students together through play.”
