Cyprus Unemployment Rises to 5 Percent in July 2025

Eurostat data show unemployment rising on the island while overall EU figures continue to decline

Unemployment in Cyprus rose to 5 per cent in July 2025, up from 4.7 per cent in June, according to figures released by Eurostat.

Despite the increase, Cyprus’ seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remains lower than the averages recorded in both the euro area and the European Union.

Euro area and EU trends

In the euro area, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 6.2 per cent in July 2025, compared with 6.3 per cent in June 2025 and 6.4 per cent in July 2024.

Across the EU, the unemployment rate declined to 5.9 per cent from 6 per cent in June 2025.

Eurostat estimates that 13.025 million people in the EU, including 10.805 million in the euro area, were unemployed in July 2025.

Monthly and annual comparisons

Compared with June 2025, unemployment decreased by 165,000 across the EU and by 170,000 in the euro area.

Year on year, from July 2024, unemployment fell by 105,000 in the EU and by 161,000 in the euro area.
