A new agreement between the Deputy Ministry of Tourism and the Cyprus University of Technology will deliver a national visitor app designed to change how people discover and experience Cyprus. The project brings all official tourist information into one modern, personalised platform.

The app will act as a personal digital guide. Users will be able to navigate between places and explore cultural monuments, nature trails, museums, local experiences, and points of interest in a single environment. Content will be tailored to each user’s interests to improve relevance and quality.

Key Features

  • Real-time navigation and suggested routes

  • Personalised recommendations based on user preferences

  • Live updates on events and activities

  • Themed cultural routes, nature trails, Troodos and mountain content, cycling routes, and other special-interest tourism options

Augmented reality will let users preview cultural heritage and archaeological sites on their screens as they would appear on location. This is intended to boost both the educational and experiential value of visits.

Technology Backbone

The app will use information technology and geoinformatics to integrate modern tourism tools, delivering accurate mapping, routing, and on-the-spot guidance in one official system.

The application is planned for public release within 18 months on both Android and iOS. It will serve tourists, residents, and industry professionals as a unified and easy-to-use resource.
