President Nikos Christodoulides on Thursday took part in a video conference of the 'Coalition of the Willing' for Ukraine, convened by French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
According to government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis, the teleconference brought together a number of European and international leaders, along with representatives of international organisations, to coordinate ongoing efforts in support of Ukraine. The focus of the discussion was how to advance collective action towards securing a lasting ceasefire.
“Cyprus is an active member of this international alliance, which seeks a just peace that respects the Charter of the United Nations while safeguarding the security interests of Ukraine and Europe,” Letymbiotis said.
He stressed that Cyprus, itself divided for 51 years following the Turkish invasion, consistently upholds the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity for all states.
