Greece will represent the Republic of Cyprus for Schengen visa issuance in 19 third countries, a bridging arrangement tied to Cyprus’s forthcoming full entry into the Schengen area.
The Foreign Ministers of the two countries signed a Joint Declaration on Wednesday in Athens, on the sidelines of the 3rd Cyprus–Greece Intergovernmental Summit.
In a private meeting, the ministers reviewed bilateral cooperation and coordination ahead of a UN-convened meeting on the Cyprus issue, as well as preparations for Cyprus’s Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2026.
The meeting was attended by Greece’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Alexandra Papadopoulou, and Cyprus’s Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Marilena Raouna.
