The European Public Prosecutor's Office confirms to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) that there is an ongoing investigation on the Great Sea Interconnector project (GSI), noting however that no further details can be made public at this time “in order not to endanger the outcome of the investigation.”

On Wednesday, President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides stated that he was informed earlier in the day by the Law Office of the Republic of Cyprus that the EPPO is launching a probe into possible criminal offenses regarding the GSI project.

Replying to a request for comment by the Cyprus News Agency, an EPPO Press Officer said “the EPPO can confirm that it has an ongoing investigation.”

“No further details can be made public at this time, in order not to endanger the outcome of the investigation” it was added.

Any public information will be given by the EPPO itself, when the office has something to say about any of their investigations, the Press Officer concluded.
