Members of the UN Security Council have condemned the recent attacks in Doha, describing the country as “the territory of a key mediator.” In a statement, they expressed “deep sorrow for the loss of civilians” in the September 9 attacks.
The Council stressed “the importance of de-escalation” and assured “its solidarity with Qatar,” while reaffirming “support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Qatar, in full compliance with the principles of the UN Charter.”
It also reiterated “firm support for the crucial role that Qatar continues to play in mediation efforts in the region,” alongside Egypt and the United States, emphasising that “Doha’s contribution remains vital to maintaining channels of communication.”
Council members further underlined that “the release of hostages, including those killed by Hamas, as well as ending the war and suffering in Gaza, must remain a top priority.” In this context, they repeated the importance of the ongoing diplomatic efforts led by Qatar, Egypt and the US, and urged all parties to seize the opportunity for peace.
