The opening of Cyprus EU Presidency and Volodymyr Zelenskyy lead the headlines.

The opening ceremony of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU, the meeting of Cyprus President Nicos Christodoulides with Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission at the Presidential Palace, the withdrawal of the complaint against DISY MP Nikos Syka, the poisoned water case in Larnaca, and the joint memorandum by the trade unions PEO, SEK and DEOK on wages and collective agreements are the main topics on the front pages of the Cypriot press on Thursday.

Alithia, under the headline “Drugs behind the tragedy”, refers to the poisoned water case in Larnaca, which resulted in one death and four people being hospitalised. In another report, the newspaper writes that the meeting of the President of the Republic with the President of Ukraine, the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission “was the only event with real political substance at yesterday’s opening of the Cypriot Presidency”. Elsewhere, it reports that the DISY Political Bureau will meet next Monday regarding the case of MP Nikos Syka.

Politis headlines its main story “Ukraine a priority for the EU” and writes that the presence of Volodymyr Zelenskyy at yesterday’s opening ceremony of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU was a very clear message of EU solidarity with Ukraine.
