Limassol authorities have launched an investigation after a foreign businessman reported that his local sales representative disappeared with high-value merchandise worth nearly ten million euros.
The complainant, who owns an overseas luxury jewellery manufacturing firm, told investigators that he handed over the items on 6 June. The 54-year-old suspect was expected to showcase the collection to potential buyers in Cyprus as part of an ongoing professional collaboration.
The two men had scheduled a meeting for Monday evening to discuss the outcome of the viewings and review the status of the inventory. The suspect failed to attend the meeting and has since cut off all contact, prompting the business owner to file an official complaint with the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department.
Police officials stated that the suspect is believed to have fled with the entire collection without returning the stock or paying for the items. A judicial warrant has been issued for his arrest, and the case is being treated as theft by an agent.
