Two suspects, aged 31 and 23, were remanded in custody for four days by the Larnaca District Court on Tuesday in connection with a road collision and alleged abandonment of the scene on May 6 on the Rizoelia-Kalo Chorio motorway.

Police investigations secured testimony against a 31-year-old man from Greece, who is believed to have rented the vehicle, and a 23-year-old Greek Cypriot man, who is believed to have been driving it.

According to information from the Cyprus News Agency, police are investigating offences relating to negligent and reckless acts, causing actual bodily harm and abandoning the scene of a traffic accident. The case is being investigated by Aradippou Police Station.

The incident occurred on May 6 on the motorway between the Rizoelia and Kalo Chorio roundabouts.

According to police, after a road collision on the motorway, the 65-year-old driver of one of the vehicles approached the second vehicle to exchange details.

A police patrol car then arrived at the scene. Police said that, upon seeing officers, the driver of the second vehicle started his car and attempted to leave.

As the 65-year-old British man tried to stop him, he ended up on the windscreen of the vehicle, which continued moving along the motorway.

At some point, the 65-year-old fell onto the road, suffering minor injuries, including bruises and abrasions.

Police said the driver of the second vehicle then abandoned the scene.
