Police arrested two people on Friday during the Cyprus Cup final at GSP Stadium in Nicosia, following separate incidents in the stadium car park.
A 31-year-old man was arrested at around 5.50pm by members of the police rapid response unit after officers allegedly saw him throw a lit flare towards a steward and attack him.
Police intervened immediately and arrested the suspect, who allegedly resisted. A subsequent search found another flare in his possession, which was seized as evidence.
A 19-year-old man was arrested at around 8.45pm on suspicion of possessing explosive materials, after officers from the Nicosia CID and the rapid response unit searched his car in the stadium car park.
Police said they found five fireworks, 13 firecrackers and eight flares inside the vehicle.
The Strovolos police station and Nicosia CID are investigating the two cases.
