A weak low‑pressure system and an unstable air mass continue to affect the region, bringing changeable weather conditions across Cyprus.
On Friday, increased low cloud is expected mainly in the west and may bring isolated light rain early in the day. Conditions will gradually improve by midday, with most areas becoming mostly clear with periods of cloud.
However, clouds developing particularly in the south and east are likely to produce isolated showers or thunderstorms. Hail may also occur in some thunderstorms.
Winds will be south‑westerly to north‑westerly, moderate to strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort, strengthening locally in the afternoon along southern and eastern coasts to 5 to 6 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough to rough.
Temperatures will reach around 31°C inland, about 29°C along the south‑east and east coasts, around 25°C on the south‑west, west and northern coasts, and about 20°C in higher mountainous areas.
Overnight, conditions will become mostly clear, although patches of low cloud may persist locally. Winds will be mainly downslope and light at around 3 Beaufort. The sea will remain slightly rough in the west but become calm to slightly rough elsewhere.
Minimum temperatures will drop to around 18°C inland and along western and northern coasts, about 20°C along the south‑east and east, and around 12°C in the mountains.
Outlook for the weekend
On Saturday, Sunday and Monday, periods of increased cloud are expected, especially after midday, bringing local showers and isolated thunderstorms.
These are most likely to affect mountainous areas, regions west and south of Troodos, as well as parts of the interior.
Temperatures are not expected to change significantly and will remain close to seasonal averages.
