The governments of the United States, Cyprus, Greece, and Israel issued a joint statement following a 3+1 Energy Ministerial on Thursday, underscoring their shared commitment to enhancing energy cooperation and security across the Eastern Mediterranean.

In the meeting attended by the energy ministers of the four countries and the co-chairs of the US National Energy Dominance Council, the participants reaffirmed the importance of promoting energy security and regional collaboration through initiatives such as the Eastern Mediterranean Energy Center, viewing energy cooperation as a cornerstone of regional stability and resilience.

The ministers reiterated their support for broader regional interconnectivity projects, both ongoing and future, within the framework of the India–Middle East–Europe Corridor, alongside initiatives in energy development and the protection of critical energy infrastructure.

They also pledged to use the 3+1 format to advance efforts toward diversifying regional energy sources, reducing dependence on “malign actors”, and strengthening energy links among like-minded regional partners. In this context, they condemned Russia’s attempts to circumvent oil sanctions and finance its ongoing war in Ukraine.

Reaffirming their commitment to Europe–Israel energy infrastructure cooperation, the ministers agreed to convene again in Washington, D.C., in the second quarter of 2026 to further advance their collaboration under the framework of the Eastern Mediterranean 3+1 Energy Dialogue.
