Seven Arrested Last Night by Authorities for Burglaries, Stabbing, Domestic Violence and Assault on Police Officer

According to the police, 68 vehicle drivers were checked for driving under the influence of alcohol, while one driver was checked for driving under the influence of drugs.

Police arrested seven individuals last night for various offences, including burglary and theft, stabbing, domestic violence and assault against a police officer, as part of targeted preventive operations. At the same time, 195 reports were issued for various traffic violations.

In a statement, police said that “there was a strong police presence and activity across Cyprus during the night, with organised patrols carried out at key locations in urban areas, aiming to prevent serious criminal acts, safeguard public order and increase the public’s sense of safety.”

During these operations, police reported that throughout the night 418 vehicles were stopped for inspection and 608 individuals travelling in them were checked.

In addition, 33 inspections of premises were carried out in parallel, aimed at tackling delinquent behaviour, resulting in three reports being issued.

Police also stated that during traffic checks conducted, 195 reports were issued relating to various traffic offences, while six cases of traffic violations remain under investigation. They added that as part of police examinations, four vehicles were immobilised.

They noted that among the traffic reports issued, 36 concerned exceeding the speed limit.

Finally, police stated that coordinated policing operations for the prevention and suppression of crime continue on a daily basis, with an enhanced police presence, targeted checks and immediate operational action, aiming to protect citizens and safeguard public order.
