The British High Commission and the Deputy Ministry of Tourism will launch the Counter-Terrorism Awareness E-Learning Training Programme on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, at City of Dreams Mediterranean. It is the first formal rollout of its kind in Europe and aims to strengthen public safety and preparedness across Cyprus’s tourism sector.

What the programme covers

Developed by the UK Home Office for Cyprus, the training equips staff in high-footfall settings; hotels, airports, ports, restaurants, bars, shopping centres and entertainment venues, to identify and respond to serious threats. Modules address suspicious behaviour and items, bomb threats, firearms and weapons attacks, and insider threats, with practical guidance for managing incidents that could disrupt operations or endanger the public.

By giving frontline workers and managers clear, actionable steps, the programme supports faster, more effective responses to threats, protecting visitors and staff and reinforcing Cyprus’s position as a safe, resilient, high-quality destination.

How to access it

The e-learning modules will be available on the Deputy Ministry of Tourism’s website. They are designed to plug into existing security protocols and can be adopted consistently across the industry.

The conference “Safeguarding Cyprus’s Tourism Industry” will feature keynote addresses by the Deputy Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Costas Constantinou, and the British High Commissioner, Michael Tatham, alongside panels, case studies and real-life testimonials. Admission is free.
