Efforts to extinguish the fire that broke out this afternoon at a factory in Moni are continuing, with firefighters having already prevented the blaze from spreading to neighbouring premises.
According to an updated briefing from Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis, “Firefighting continues mainly inside the factory, in large stacks of polyurethane panels. Water and foam are being used simultaneously. The fire has been contained within the factory area.”
He added that “during the development of the fire, adjacent factories were protected by the firefighting forces,” noting that the suppression efforts will be prolonged due to the nature of the burning materials. “There is no longer any danger of the fire spreading. The causes of the fire will be investigated once full extinguishment is achieved, during the course of tomorrow,” Kettis said.

The blaze broke out at a polyurethane panel manufacturing plant in the Moni industrial zone, prompting an immediate response from Fire Service units. Engines were dispatched from the Limassol and Vasilikos (Larnaca) stations, with further reinforcements later called in from Larnaca, Nicosia and the EMAK rescue unit.
The operation was additionally supported by water tankers from the Limassol District Administration and the Municipality of Amathounta, while a Department of Forests fire engine also joined the effort. Extra personnel were recalled due to the complexity of the operation and the highly flammable materials involved.
