A stolen car driver evaded police early on Sunday morning in Ayia Napa, causing multiple collisions and prompting officers to fire warning shots before he abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

In his attempt to escape, the driver collided with multiple police vehicles, forcing officers to fire warning shots.

The driver then entered the opposite lane on the Larnaca–Ayia Napa motorway before abandoning the car in an area controlled by the British Bases and fleeing on foot.

According to a police statement, officers initially located the car at around 1:30 a.m. following an intelligence tip-off. “The driver was signalled to stop for a check but accelerated to flee,” the statement said.

During the pursuit, the vehicle collided with two police cars, and warning shots were fired to halt it. It later collided with a third patrol car while exiting the motorway. Three police vehicles sustained minor damage.
