Two young hikers who went missing on a nature trail in the Troodos Mountains were located safe and well late on Monday afternoon, following a coordinated search operation by emergency services.
According to a post on X by Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis, police relayed the hikers’ location to EMAK shortly after 6.30pm. Two fire engines from the Fire Service’s rural station in Moniatis were also dispatched to assist.
The two hikers, aged 21 and 23, had been walking along the Atalanti nature trail near the summit of Troodos when they lost their bearings after nightfall and were unable to reach a safe point.
They were found uninjured and in good health by officers from the Platres police station and were subsequently escorted to safety, bringing the incident to a positive conclusion.
