Police carried out targeted and intensified preventive operations across Cyprus overnight, with an increased presence in key urban areas.
The operations aimed to prevent serious criminal activity, protect the public and maintain public order, police said.
During the night, police arrested a total of 12 people nationwide in connection with serious criminal and other offences.
The arrests involved a range of cases, including illegal stay in the Republic, illegal possession of property, people wanted over outstanding fine warrants, illegal employment and possession of burglary tools.
As part of investigations into traffic-related offences, four vehicles were also seized.
At the same time, police carried out extensive checks at 29 premises. Of these, 12 were reported for various violations.
On the road network, more than 540 checks were conducted. These resulted in over 110 reports for traffic offences. Thirty-seven of them concerned speeding.
Police said the operations form part of a wider, ongoing and strengthened preventive plan. The plan includes increased police presence, targeted checks and immediate operational action in all districts, with the aim of preventing crime and strengthening public confidence in safety.
