Fire in Aglantzia Started at Home Altar

The Fire Service said an investigation into the cause of the fire will follow

A fire that started at a small home altar in a house in Aglantzia, Nicosia province, was put out early Wednesday before firefighters arrived.

The blaze damaged the religious items and nearby paintwork. It was extinguished by the house’s domestic helper. The Kaimakli fire station responded with one engine after a call at 4.56am.

The Fire Service said an investigation into the cause of the fire will follow with the relevant authorities.

On the same day, the department handled 39 calls for assistance. Of these, 20 were fire-related, while 19 were for special services, including rescues and other emergencies.

Authorities continue to remind residents to be careful with flammable materials and electrical appliances at home.
