Five-Month-Old Baby Stable After Road Collision in Geroskipou

Police say baby was not secured in a child seat

The health condition of the five-month-old baby injured in a road collision in Geroskipou on Friday morning remains stable.

The baby girl was transferred immediately to Makarios Hospital, where she remains hospitalised. Treating doctors described her condition as serious but stable.

According to police, the collision occurred at around 8.30am in Geroskipou. Based on information under investigation, a vehicle driven by a 63-year-old woman collided with a car driven by a 48-year-old man. In the back seat of the second vehicle were the driver’s 33-year-old wife and their two minor daughters, aged three years and five months.

Preliminary findings indicate that the five-month-old baby was not secured in a child seat at the time of the collision and was being held by her mother.

All those involved in the accident were injured and taken by ambulance to Paphos General Hospital. Due to the seriousness of her condition, the baby was transferred to Makarios Hospital. The remaining occupants of the two vehicles did not sustain serious injuries.

Paphos traffic police are investigating the circumstances of the collision.
