Fig Tree Bay in Protaras has been ranked among the 19 best beaches in Europe for 2026, according to the annual Travellers’ Choice Awards by Tripadvisor.
In a statement, the Municipality of Paralimni–Deryneia welcomed the distinction, noting that Fig Tree Bay is the only beach from Cyprus included in this year’s European list. The recognition, it said, reaffirms the beach’s long-standing reputation as a leading seaside destination and further strengthens the international profile of Protaras and the wider municipality.
The annual Travellers’ Choice Awards are based on reviews and ratings submitted by users of the Tripadvisor platform over a 12-month period. Municipal authorities expressed thanks to the hundreds of thousands of Cypriot and international visitors whose evaluations have consistently placed Fig Tree Bay at the top of beach rankings in Cyprus.
According to the municipality, the award reflects ongoing efforts in areas such as cleanliness, safety, accessibility and organisation. It added that it will continue prioritising infrastructure upgrades and service improvements aimed at enhancing the overall visitor experience and consolidating Protaras’ position as one of Europe’s most attractive coastal destinations.
