With five award winning films from Mexico, Spain, Portugal, Brazil and Cuba, the Ibero American Film Festival in Cyprus returns for a fourth consecutive year and will take place from 5 June to 2 July at Pantheon cinema in Nicosia.
The festival is organised by the embassies of Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, Portugal and Spain, in collaboration with the Cervantes Institute in Nicosia and the Cyprus Film Society.
This year’s event opens on Friday 5 June with Mexico and the film “El Rey de todo el mundo” (2021) by acclaimed director Carlos Saura. The screening will take place at 20:00 at Pantheon cinema, while the remaining films will be screened at the same venue with a start time of 20:30.
The programme also includes the Spanish film “La Isla Mínima” (2014) by Alberto Rodríguez on 9 June, the Portuguese production “A Memória do Cheiro das Coisas” (2025) by António Ferreira on 16 June, the Brazilian film “Manas” (2024) by Marianna Brennand on 19 June and the Cuban production “Una noche con los Rolling Stones” (2024) by Patricia Ramos on 2 July.
All films will be screened in their original language with English subtitles, while admission will be free for the public.
According to the organisers, the festival aims to highlight the richness and diversity of Ibero American cinema, offering the Cypriot public the opportunity to discover contemporary cinematic narratives and award winning works from the Spanish and Portuguese speaking world.
