Attention turns to Saturday’s weather
For those who have already secured flights and concert tickets, attention is now shifting to the weather forecast.
Unsettled conditions, including rain and local thunderstorms, are expected across several parts of Greece over the weekend of 26 and 27 September.
For Athens, however, the current outlook appears more favourable during the hours of the concert.
Temporary rain is possible during Saturday morning and afternoon, locally of moderate intensity, although no particularly severe conditions are currently forecast for the capital.
From late afternoon, at around 4pm to 5pm, conditions are expected to improve, with rain becoming more limited and intermittent cloud remaining.
Based on the current forecast, no rain is expected during the concert itself, potentially easing concerns among spectators seated both in the stands and on the OAKA field.
Temperatures in Athens are expected to reach around 23°C to 24°C during the day, falling to approximately 19°C to 20°C at night.
Conditions will be cooler than usual for the time of year because of colder air arriving from the north, while winds are expected to blow mainly from northerly directions at 2 to 3 Beaufort.
Thousands expected at OAKA
With final preparations under way, Athens is gearing up for one of the year's biggest concert events.
Demand for tickets has been extremely strong, while interest from Cyprus has also become evident in flight availability and prices.
For those who have already booked their flights and secured a ticket, the countdown is under way. Others continue searching for last-minute travel options despite the increased prices.
If the current weather forecast holds, conditions should at least cooperate with the tens of thousands of people expected at OAKA on Saturday night.
€4m to €5m production
Those attending will not simply be watching a conventional concert, but a production conceived on the scale of a major international show.
More than 400 people are working around the clock on preparations, while the production cost is estimated at between €4 million and €5 million, according to the latest information.
Vissi will perform on a huge 360-degree stage, designed to make the spectacle visible from every part of the stadium.
Argy and Orianthi to join Vissi
Internationally known DJ and producer Argy will appear as the evening's special guest. He previously collaborated with Vissi on Olo Pio Pano.
Greek-Australian guitarist Orianthi is also expected to perform. She was selected by Michael Jackson for his planned This Is It concert series.
Vissi's wardrobe and the overall styling of the show have been entrusted to Rita Melssen, known for her collaborations with Madonna.
The concert programme will also include an audiovisual retrospective of Vissi's career, tracing her journey from her early years in music through to the present day.
