The Cyprus Police have installed card payment terminals at 24 service points across the island, allowing citizens to pay fines and administrative fees by bank card.
According to a statement from the Police Communication Branch, card payment facilities are now available at Police Headquarters in Nicosia, including the Traffic Department, the Criminal Records Office (CRO), the Aliens and Immigration Unit, the Firearms Office and the Accounts Department.
Coverage across districts
Card terminals have also been placed in all district police headquarters in Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, Paphos and Famagusta, as well as in the Morphou division. These include accounts offices and firearms licensing units.
Additional terminals have been installed at the Polis Chrysochous and Kato Pyrgos police stations.
Payments by card will be accepted during the operating hours of the respective cashier offices.
Part of broader digital upgrade
The Police said the move forms part of a broader modernisation effort aimed at improving public service and streamlining transactions.
The introduction of card payments is expected to reduce the need for cash transactions and simplify the settlement of traffic fines, permits and other administrative charges handled by police services.
