US President Donald Trump said that Britain’s King Charles agrees with him that Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.

Speaking at the start of the official state dinner at the White House, Trump said that the two leaders share the same view on developments in the Middle East, without directly naming Iran.

“Charles agrees with me even more than I do myself. We will never allow this adversary to obtain a nuclear weapon. They know it, and they now know it very strongly,” Trump said.

King Charles and Queen Camilla are currently visiting the United States on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

During the same dinner, Trump also praised relations between the United States and the United Kingdom, stressing that the two countries share a “nobility of spirit and heroic soul.”
