MFA Issues Travel Advice for Tanzania

Hundreds of protesters clashed with police in Tanzania’s commercial capital for a third straight day, demanding an end to the announcement of disputed election results.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus issued on Friday, travel advice to Cypriot citizens who are currently in or are planning to travel to Tanzania.

According to an official announcement, the Foreign Ministry advises Cypriot citizens “to exercise a high-degree of caution due to the ongoing unrest and the imposition of curfew in country.”

Moreover, Cypriot citizens currently in Tanzania are advised to avoid areas where there are gatherings and demonstrations, remain on high alert, and follow the instructions of local authorities. It is also recommended that they closely follow developments and information from international and local media, avoid non-essential movements and exercise maximum caution.

Cypriot citizens are also invited to register on the online registration platform connect2cy for Cypriots abroad.
