Food lovers are in for a treat next weekend as the Scalifornia Festival takes over Salina Municipal Park on Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11, transforming the space into a large open-air food hall packed with street food, local producers and culinary experiences.
Running from 11:00 until 23:00 on both days, the festival will feature food from Cypriot chefs, hands-on workshops, guided tastings, a cocktail bar centred on local products and live music throughout the day and into the evening. Entrance to the festival is free.
The event is organised by Sunmoon Hospitality and Smash Bites, bringing together a celebration of local food, drinks and gastronomy in a relaxed festival setting.
Event's highlights
Among the highlights is a live cooking session on Sunday at 16:30, when chef Stavris will take to the grill alongside Ioannis Petrow Eleftheriades to prepare two burger creations, featuring beef and slow-cooked pulled pork.
Wine enthusiasts will have the opportunity to explore Cyprus' indigenous varieties during a guided wine-pairing experience led by Maria Massoura on Sunday at 14:30. Participants will be taken through a selection of local wines, each matched with complementary bites.
Craft beer fans can also join a specialist pairing session on Saturday at 17:30, led by beer expert Sylvia Savvidou. The tasting will showcase five styles of Cypriot craft beer, including IPA, stout, porter, sour and pilsner, paired with carefully selected food. Participation costs €35 per person and advance booking is required.
For those who enjoy a little heat, Pepper Addict Cyprus will host a hot sauce-making workshop on Saturday at 19:00. Attendees will learn the basics of fermentation, create their own sauce from scratch and take home a jar of their creation. The workshop costs €30 per person and requires prior booking.
With food, drinks, workshops and music on the menu, Scalifornia Festival promises a weekend dedicated to celebrating local flavours and the growing street food culture in Cyprus.
