Cypriot athlete Marina Hadjikosta won the discus gold medal on Saturday at the European Athletics U18 Championships in Rieti, Italy, with a best throw of 56.17 metres.
According to the Cyprus Amateur Athletic Association (KOEAS), Hadjikosta, who is coached by Constantinos Stavrou, secured the European U18 title with her third-round throw.
She had effectively secured the gold medal with her opening throw of 54.12m. Her remaining attempts were 52.86m, 56.17m and 53.46m, along with two fouls.
A fourth gold, all in throws
It was Cyprus' fourth gold medal at the European U18 Championships, with all four having been won in throwing events. The medal ceremony is scheduled for Sunday at 16:00 local time.

KOEAS congratulated Hadjikosta and her coach on the gold medal, as well as her parents.
"This major achievement rewards Marina's steadily improving performances, as her hard work, dedication and consistency have established her as one of the leading talents in Cypriot athletics," the Cyprus Olympic Committee said in a press release.
"Many congratulations to our champion, her coach Constantinos Stavrou and KOEAS," the Cyprus Sports Organisation said.
