A forest fire is underway after breaking out on Saturday afternoon in an area of the Lysos community, in the Paphos district, with strong ground and air forces battling to bring it under control.
How it started
According to the first update from the Forestry Department, the fire broke out at 3:53pm and remains ongoing.
The response
Strong firefighting forces are working to extinguish the blaze, with four firefighting aircraft of the Republic of Cyprusalso deployed in the effort.
A further update from the Forestry Department is expected.
