Argentina’s ultraliberal President, Javier Milei, launched a fierce attack on the UN General Assembly, describing the organisation as “useless” and arguing that it serves only to feed “a caste of parasites disguised as well-meaning bureaucrats”.
“Those who should guarantee collective security and human rights have failed in their mission and, instead, have allowed chaos, violence and international terrorism,” Milei said.
He is an ally of US President Donald Trump.
The Argentine President has expressed the same criticism of the UN in previous years.
During his address to the General Assembly, Milei specifically accused the UN of “turning a blind eye” to Argentina’s historic claim to sovereignty over the Malvinas, which Britain calls the Falkland Islands and has under its sovereignty.
He also condemned hesitation towards artificial intelligence.
