The last day for radio and television broadcasters to air election poll results is Saturday, May 16, at midnight.

A seven-day ban on the broadcast of election poll results will come into effect ahead of the May 24, 2026 elections, the Cyprus Radio-Television and Digital Services Authority has reminded broadcasters.

In a circular, the Authority drew the attention of radio and television organisations to Article 46(1) of the Radio and Television Organisations Law 7(I)/98, as amended, which prohibits the broadcast or transmission of the results of any election-related polls during the seven days before any election.

According to the Authority, since election day has been set for Sunday, May 24, the final day on which poll results may be aired or transmitted is Saturday, May 16, until midnight.

The restriction also applies to repeat broadcasts of programmes containing poll results, as well as news bulletins that include such material.

The Authority said it expects all broadcasters to take the necessary measures to comply with the law, warning that failure to do so may lead to action and possible sanctions under the relevant legislation.
