Police have urged the public to remain alert after new reports of misleading emails being sent under the names of banking institutions.
According to a police announcement, the messages are designed to look like official bank communications, with the aim of persuading recipients to disclose sensitive personal details and banking information.
Authorities said the fraudsters are attempting to obtain citizens’ data through deceptive messages that imitate legitimate financial institutions.
Police advised the public not to share personal information with third parties and to verify the identity of any sender through the official communication channels of their bank.
Anyone who has already shared personal or banking details is urged to contact their bank immediately so that steps can be taken to prevent possible unlawful use of the information.
