A snake caused a power outage in several areas in the north after triggering a malfunction at a transformer station in Lefkoniko on Wednesday afternoon, Haber Kibris reported.
According to the report, an investigation by the Turkish Cypriot electricity authority found that the snake entered among switches at the station, causing a short circuit. Repair crews were dispatched immediately to fix the damage.
The outage affected a number of villages, livestock areas, military installations and water pumping stations in the regions of Bogazi, Prasteio (Famagusta), Knodara and Lefkoniko.
