Large-scale power outages affected multiple areas across Cyprus on Friday, leaving households and businesses without electricity and prompting concern among residents.
The Cyprus Transmission System Operator (TSOC) confirmed that a loss of generation had occurred within the system and said investigations were under way to determine the source of the problem. Efforts to restore electricity supply began immediately, with reserve resources being used to stabilise the network.

In comments to Politis, the Cyprus Transmission System Operator said the problem was linked to a loss of electricity generation.

“We are investigating where it originated from,” representatives of the operator said.

According to the operator, work to restore electricity supply is continuing.
