Limassol Municipality is continuing public consultations on plans to revitalise public squares across the city, with residents and community groups invited to help shape the final designs.
A public presentation was held on Monday for the proposed redevelopment of Public Square D3, located on Theodosis Hadjitheodosiou, Zola and Christou Apostolidi streets in the Ayia Fyla area, according to a municipal announcement.
The project forms part of the municipality's wider initiative to revitalise public squares and improve the urban environment in neighbourhoods across Limassol.
Chance for public feedback
The presentation, held at the 25th Limassol Primary School, was delivered by Eupalinos Consulting Ltd, which has been commissioned to prepare studies for Sections D and E of the programme.
The municipality said the final design for Square D3 incorporates feedback and suggestions submitted by residents during an earlier consultation meeting held at Limassol Town Hall in July.
"The overall philosophy of the project aims to transform Square D3 into a vibrant, safe, sustainable and accessible neighbourhood hub for all age groups, upgrading residents' quality of life and redefining public spaces as central points for meeting and social interaction," the municipality said.
The presentation was followed by an open discussion during which residents and members of the municipal council were invited to submit questions and comments.
Additional feedback may be submitted by email to the municipality by 21 September under the subject line "Suggestion for Square D3 in Ayia Fyla".
Reflecting needs of local communities
The municipality is also holding a public presentation and consultation on Tuesday for the preliminary design of redevelopment works covering Sections A, B and C of the programme.
The study concerns the upgrading of 15 public squares in the neighbourhoods of Apostolos Andreas, Agios Nikolaos, Ayia Fyla, Timios Prodromos, Agios Spyridonas, Tsiflikoudia, Panagia Evangelistria, Agios Georgios, Chalkoutsa, Kapsalos, Omonia, Neapolis and Panthea.
Municipal officials said the presentation would outline existing conditions, the design approach and proposed interventions for each square. The plans focus on preserving and enhancing existing green spaces, creating safe and accessible areas for all age groups, upgrading playgrounds, increasing shaded areas, using durable low-maintenance materials and improving lighting.
The municipality called on residents to participate in the consultation process to ensure the redesign of public squares reflects the needs of local communities and contributes to improving quality of life in the city.
