Employment in Cyprus continued to rise in the first quarter of 2026, while actual hours worked also recorded an annual increase, new figures show.
According to data published on Monday by the Statistical Service, the total number of people employed in the first quarter of 2026 was estimated at 513,367. Of these, 460,476 were employees and 52,891 were self-employed.
Compared with the corresponding quarter of 2025, total employment increased by 2.0%.
The largest percentage increases were recorded in wholesale and retail trade, including the repair of motor vehicles, as well as in information and communication and construction.
Actual hours worked in the first quarter of 2026 were estimated at 238.274 million, marking an increase of 2.5% compared with the same period last year.
