Cyprus recorded the fourth-highest economic growth rate in the European Union between April and June, despite uncertainty surrounding developments in the Middle East.

Preliminary seasonally adjusted figures published on Friday by the Statistical Service and Eurostat showed that GDP was 3.3% higher than in the same period of 2025, compared with annual growth of 3% in the first quarter of 2026.

Key sectors behind the expansion

The Statistical Service attributed the positive performance mainly to wholesale and retail trade and motor vehicle repairs, information and communications, financial and insurance activities, and construction.

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, the economy expanded by 0.8%, accelerating from 0.5% during the first three months of the year.

Cyprus ranks fourth in the EU

Slovenia recorded the EU’s highest growth rate at 4.8%, followed by Lithuania at 3.8% and Poland at 3.7%. Cyprus followed in fourth place.
