Cyprus recorded continued growth in labour activity during the second quarter of 2026, according to figures released by the Statistical Service on Monday. The number of people employed reached 525,167, while the volume of actual hours worked also increased year on year.

Of the total workforce, 472,254 were employees and 52,913 were self-employed.
Compared with the corresponding quarter of 2025, total employment rose by 1.7%.
The largest percentage increases were recorded in wholesale and retail trade and the repair of motor vehicles, construction, and the arts, entertainment and recreation sector.
Actual working hours rise
Actual hours worked during the second quarter were estimated at 246.57 million, representing an annual increase of 2.2%.
