Demand exceeded the budget on the first day of applications, and an additional €7.5 million has also been exhausted.

The Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry is no longer accepting applications under its “Save and Upgrade in Homes” grant scheme. Demand from applicants outstripped the available funding two times over. According to the Ministry, interest was so high that the original budget was exceeded on the very first day applications opened.

Additional €7.5 million also absorbed

In response, the Ministry secured an additional €7.5 million for the scheme, drawn from savings on previous calls for applications.

It also arranged to accept reserve applications. The aim was to serve as many eligible applicants as possible and ensure the full use of available funds.

However, the Ministry said that, owing to the exceptionally strong response, the additional funding has also been oversubscribed.

Applications formally closed

The Ministry stated that the submission of applications has ended because the available funds have been oversubscribed and exhausted. It noted that this is in line with the terms of the scheme and the call for proposals.

Why the scheme was announced in May

The Ministry noted that the scheme was announced on 15 May 2026. The early announcement was intended to inform interested parties in good time and help them prepare. It also allowed applicants to begin implementing their investments from that date.

How applications are assessed

Applications are submitted electronically through the Ministry’s Grant Schemes System (fundingapps.meci.gov.cy). They are assessed in the order in which they were submitted, in accordance with the terms and provisions of the scheme.

EU co-funding

The scheme is implemented under the THALEIA 2021-2027 programme. It is co-funded by the European Union’s European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Republic of Cyprus.
