The planned visit of President Nikos Christodoulides to Turkey for the COP31 United Nations Climate Change Conference has attracted prominent coverage in the Turkish media ahead of the summit in Antalya.

Turkish media focus on COP31 attendance

According to the reports, Hürriyet referred to Christodoulides as the "Greek Cypriot leader" rather than the President of the Republic of Cyprus.

The newspaper also reported that Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman had announced receiving an invitation from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to attend the conference.

Wider coverage across Turkish outlets

The pro-government daily Yeni Şafak also highlighted Christodoulides' expected participation in the summit.

News outlet Haber7 noted that former Cypriot president Nicos Anastasiades attended an international summit in Istanbul in 2016, drawing parallels with the upcoming visit.

COP31 set for November

The COP31 climate conference is scheduled to take place in Antalya from 9 to 20 November.

The event is expected to bring together world leaders and officials to discuss global climate policy and environmental commitments.
