The Cabinet has approved the allocation of up to €18.8 million in financial assistance to farmers whose agricultural production was damaged by adverse weather conditions in 2025.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, compensation will be paid through the Agricultural Production Protection and Insurance Fund, in line with the Law on Risk Management in Agricultural Production. The Fund’s Management Committee approved the relevant proposal at its meeting on 30 October 2025.

Because €15.5 million of the Fund’s reserve has already been committed to the emergency scheme responding to the Limassol district fires, the Cabinet also decided to increase the state contribution by an additional €11.5 million. This amount is included in the draft supplementary budget for 2025.

Payments will be made once the supplementary budget is approved by the House of Representatives and provided the Fund's reserve remains sufficient. Eligible beneficiaries must meet the legal requirements, and any outstanding debts to the state will be offset at the time of payment.

The Ministry notes that prolonged drought for a third consecutive year caused extensive damage to cereal crops, while hailstorms and severe weather significantly affected vineyards. Approximately 8,600 producers were impacted, including 8,000 cereal growers and 600 vine growers.
