It’s yet another postponement for the five GCs being accused of ‘illegal entry into a military zone’ in the occupied territories.

A hearing at a so-called ‘military court’ was deferred for next Monday 8th.

This was granted following a request by defence counsel who’s summoning an expert witness from Turkey.

It was noted in ‘court’ that no expert on the specific issue could be found in the occupied areas, and that specialists in the government-controlled areas were unwilling to participate in the proceedings.

Defence emphasised the critical importance of expert testimony and informed the “court” that it requires time to find an expert in Turkey and complete the relevant procedures.

The “prosecution” raised no objection to the request, leading the “court” to set October 8 as the new date for the hearing.

Separate “Trial” in Trikomo

The Greek Cypriots trapped in the occupied territories since July 19th, either in prison or blocked from crossing over, are also facing a second “case”, being “tried” at the “District Court” in occupied Trikomo.

Tomorrow’s hearing relates to charges of “unlawful entry onto private property,” “causing public concern,” and “violation of personal data.”

As reported in the Turkish Cypriot media, witnesses will be summoned who are said to have taken photographs relevant to the accusations.
