UN Envoy Holguín to Return to Cyprus Next Week

Meetings scheduled with both leaders on January 27 as Nicosia pushes for joint talks

The UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Cyprus, María Angela Holguín, will return to the island next week and is set to meet both Cyprus leaders on Tuesday, January 27, according to the UN in Cyprus.

UN Spokesperson Aleem Siddique told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) that Holguín will meet Nikos Christodoulides at 10am and Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman at 2pm. No additional meetings have been confirmed at this stage.

Push for joint meeting

CNA also reports that President Christodoulides has expressed his wish for a joint meeting involving both leaders and the UN envoy, although no such meeting has yet been scheduled.
