Police spokesperson says no arrest warrant issued for Mayor Phedonos.

Police spokesman Vyronas Vyronos said on Thursday that no arrest warrant has been issued for Paphos mayor Phedon Phedonos and that he has not yet been called to give a statement, speaking on Politis Radio 107.6’s Morning Review programme.

Vyronos confirmed that police are investigating two separate complaints involving the mayor: one concerning alleged assault and a second relating to alleged sexual offences. A statement has already been taken from the reported victim in the latter case, while the timing of when Phedonos will be called to testify remains at the discretion of the investigative team.

He added that a special unit at Police Headquarters, rather than in Paphos, is handling the inquiries to ensure objectivity. He also clarified that no financial offences are under investigation in connection with these cases.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and that any further steps will depend on the findings of the inquiry.
