Hail and rain swept parts of Limassol district and the Troodos mountains on Tuesday afternoon, as unseasonal weather marked the end of April.

A hailstorm affected the mountainous areas, with parts of Troodos turning white due to the intensity of the phenomenon.

A post by Kitasweather on the “Kairophiloi Kyprou” Facebook page noted that “Troodos has turned white from the hail observed in the area”, sharing an image captured from a camera at the Jubilee Hotel.

Readers also sent visual material from Kalo Chorio in Limassol district, where large hailstones fell in the area. Footage from the village was also shared on the same social media page.

According to the weather bulletin, conditions are expected to remain mostly clear at times, but increased cloud cover during the afternoon may lead to isolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly in mountainous areas and inland.

Hail is also possible in areas affected by thunderstorms, the forecast added.
