I have clean hands, the President said.

President Christodoulides said he was clean and had nothing to fear in the wake of scathing criticism over an 8 minute clip alluding to illegal funding of his election campaign against investor favours, described by the government as a 'hybrid attack' on the country.

'In times of crisis, the President needs to be calm and have clean hands',  the President stressed, adding that he was not denying this was nothing else but a crisis.

Responding to the resignation made public this morning by the Director of his Office Charalambos Charalambous, who appears in the video talking to a 'prospective investor', Nicos Christodoulides rejected claims it was the result of political pressures.

'This was an act of confidence and trust', he said.

Commenting on reactions, the President stressed that parties will witness the results of their stance in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

On the stepping down of his wife as executive president of the Student Welfare Authority and a number of other charity organisations, Christodoulides said the government was going to dissolve the student fund, but was also processing a 'number of tools' on managing the organisations' operations.

'We will continue to support students in need', he added.

To the insistent remarks of reporters that the government had suffered a credibility blow following the video revelations, the President was clear.

'I have clean hands and have nothing to fear'.
