Several Roads Open Only To 4x4 Vehicles Or With Snow Chains Due To Frost

Police urge drivers to exercise caution as icy conditions persist in mountainous and high-altitude areas.

Due to frost, several roads across Cyprus remain open only to vehicles with four-wheel drive or snow chains, while others are slippery because of light snowfall or icy conditions. The Police are urging drivers to show increased caution, as wet and hazardous road surfaces persist in various parts of the island.

According to a police announcement, in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas, as well as in higher-altitude regions, road surfaces may be slippery during the morning hours due to frost.

Roads open only to 4x4 vehicles or with snow chains

Because of frost, the following roads are open exclusively to vehicles with four-wheel drive or snow chains:

  • Platres – Troodos
  • Karvounas – Troodos
  • Prodromos – Troodos
  • Kakopetria – Karvounas
  • Pedoulas – Prodromos
  • Prodromos – Lemythou
  • Kakopetria – Pinewood – Pedoulas

Roads open to all vehicles but slippery

The following roads remain open to all vehicles, but are slippery due to light snowfall and/or frost:

  • Kalopanagiotis – Moutoullas – Pedoulas
  • Kakopetria – Karvounas
  • Pedoulas – Kykkos – Kambos
  • Kykkos – Tsakkistra
  • Kambos – Orkonta – Kato Pyrgos

The Police advise all road users to exercise caution, comply with the Highway Code and obey traffic signs, in order to avoid road collisions and ensure safe travel under the prevailing weather conditions.
