Louiza Andreou Phaedonos, the wife of Paphos mayor Phaedonos Phaedonos, issued a public statement responding to posts circulating on social media, saying her family is under a coordinated attack intended to cause political damage to her husband.
“I regret that I am being forced to intervene publicly in order to protect my family from malice and gossip,” she said, adding that the attacks are clearly politically motivated.
She stressed that she does not require protection and rejected what she described as self-appointed defenders driven by ulterior motives.
“I want to say that I need neither protection nor self-appointed protectors full of agendas. Everyone who truly knows me, in my workplace, within our wider family and among our friends, knows that I am not a victim and that I have no fear,” she said.
Andreou Phaedonos went on to describe her relationship with her husband, saying they have lived harmoniously together for 20 years.
“I assure you that he is a wonderful person, dignified and honest, and I am truly proud of him and of the battles he is fighting,” she said.
She concluded by calling on those involved to keep political disputes away from her and her family, saying, “I ask everyone to leave political games far away from me and my family.”
