The Attorney General's Office has received a file containing witness testimony relating to alleged sexual abuse by suspended Paphos mayor Phedon Phedonos against a woman, according to Cyprus News Agency sources.

Following due process, a prosecutor will be assigned with evaluating all evidence collected by police and decisions will be reached on possible next steps in connection with the case.

Competent sources note that a timeframe cannot yet be determined, as possible omissions might be identified or CID officers might need to investigate further before proceeding.

The complaint was filed by the alleged victim and a well known businessman, with Phedonos/having recently testified at police headquarters.

The suspended mayor denies any wrongdoing, referring to an 'orchestrated attack aimed at his political extermination'.
